The Scoot.

Here it is. This was taken about a week and a half ago. He'd much rather walk these days, but needs someone to hold his hands while he walks, so when no one is avaialbe to hold his hand, he goes back to scooting. This video was taken when we were vacuuming. He loves to chase the vacuum.

11 Months, beach vacation, and other happenings

How is Carlisle going to be 1 in just a few short weeks??? It is just unbelievable to me. He is doing really well and is "scooting" all over the place. Scooting is where he is sitting up and uses his legs to scoot on his bottom. It is pretty funny to watch. I am trying to get it on video but as soon as he sees me taping, he stops and stares at the camera. He has gotten very quick and scoots all over the house. Carlisle also loves to walk- he isn't stable but wants to hold your hands and walk around. He can also use his push toy to walk and push behind it. He still has no fear and will just fall back straight without warning. Carlisle is doing better eating "real" food. We have been trying to wean him off the jar baby food, but its been hard. However, the last couple of days he has been doing great eating "real food". Just this week he has finally started to eat some fruit- watermelon and blueberries are his current fruits of choice.

We went to the beach with Vance's family last week. It was wonderful. Carlisle went to the pool, played in the ocean, went on strolls with his grandparents, and went out to dinner twice! Carlisle had a great time and got to play with some of his second cousins- Finley (1 year old) and Roan (18 months). Carlisle liked the sand and ocean, but especially enjoyed the pool. Vacationing with an 11 month old is exhausting! Thank goodness for Yanni, Granddad and Uncle Josh for all their help! Here are some pictures (I still need to take 11 month pictures with his bear...).

10 Months...

I am way late with this post. Carlisle was 10 months old on May 27th. We have had a busy couple of weeks. Vance was out of town for a week and unfortunately Carlisle had hand/foot/mouth disease the same week. It was a tough week, but we survived. Carlisle is feeling much better, although is cutting his top two teeth so we are dealing with that.
Carlisle is starting to move all over the place. He is not doing a traditional crawl, but more of any army crawl and he scoots. He prefers to stand up and check everything out, but he is not stable at all. He can stand up about 3 seconds and then he crashes.
He is eating very well and loves waffles, pears, toast, crackers, and gold fish. He loves vegetables- put prefers them pureed rather than in bite sized pieces.
His absolute favorite new toy is his laptop which he got for Christmas. He loves it. He also loves our laptop, really anything electronic.Carlisle is a big talker. He talks all day long. He says "mom", "mama", "da" (dad), and "dada". He also says "dag" (for dog).

Here are some pictures:

Playing Outside

Carlisle is enjoying the outdoors more and more. I think his favorite thing to do is to eat the grass.

All he wanted to do what eat fist fulls of it, so we spent a lot of time in the tent. Here are some pictures:

9 Month Stats

We went to the doctor last week for his 9 month check up and these were his stats:

Weight: 19 lbs 8 oz. (25th percentile)

Height: 28 3/4 inches (75th percentile)

Head circumference: 17 3/4 (50th percentile)

In other news, Carlisle has started to move more and more and is scooting backwards in a more traditional crawl.

Carlisle played in his first baby pool over at his friend Henry's house and enjoyed playing on Henry's new swing set. He had a blast. Here are a couple of pictures:

9 months...

I am very late with the 9 month post. Carlisle was 9 months old on Tuesday. At 9 months, Carlisle is very easy going and laid back. We are so blessed to have such a happy, healthy, easy boy! We go for his check up on Tuesday, so I don't have his stats yet, but last time we were at the doctor he was over 18 lbs. Here are some of the things that he loves and does at 9 months:

He loves his baby food. We have been working with him to eat "people food", but so far, he only eats cheerios, crackers, and puffs (a gerber baby food item). He also ate some of my cheese quesadilla the last time we went out to eat. We have tried lots of different foods, but he just doesn't like the texture I guess. If you try and put something other than these items in his mouth, he shakes his head no.

He has figured out how to move, but it is not pretty. I have tried to get it on video, but have not yet been successful. He sort of lunges to his side and throws himself forward and somehow makes progress forward. Carlisle prefers to just sit and take everything in, rather than go after toys. However, he LOVES a blackberry as well as the remote control. He will do his "crawl" and get to those items. He also loves to stand up and hold onto the furniture, although he is not really cruising around it.

He loves to be outside and he LOVES Raleigh, our dog. He is constantly trying to "pet" Raleigh and every time he manages to "pet" him, he just giggles. Carlisle grabs at everything, especially my hair and earrings, so I use "pet" in quotation marks because as soon as he gets his hands on Raleigh he grabs onto his fur and doesn't like to let go.

Carlisle loves to be bounced or tossed into the air or play spill the beans. He thinks that is hysterical.

Carlisle's favorite song is If you are happy and you know it clap your hands. He will stop whatever he is doing and smile and laugh if you start singing that song. He has learned how to clap, which is exciting because we worked on that for a while.

Carlisle is a big talker. All day long he says "dadada", 'mamamama", "babababa", AND I swear, he is trying to say dog- it comes out as "dah" but it is a different sound then when he says "dada"

He still likes his jumpy and exercauser. He loves his activity table and his penguin toy that he got for Christmas that makes funny noises when you hit it. I will have to take a video of him playing with it because its pretty funny. He also likes his light up drum that he got for Easter from his uncle. He likes to bang his toys together.

Carlisle's favorite book is Goodnight Moon. He also likes the book of nursery rhymes he got from his Aunt and Uncle. I could not remember any nursery rhymes so this book has been a lifesaver for me!

Carlisle is a still a great sleeper but likes to wake up early around 6:15-6:45.

Carlisle still only has 2 teeth and you can see them in some of the pictures. Here are his 9 month shots with his bear.
