Circus and 18 month stats

Carlisle has had a busy couple of days including his 18 month appointment and a trip to the circus with Henry. Carlilse did a great job at his appointment and did not even cry when he got his shots. He did, however, throw a tantrum when he couldn't play with the basketball on display in the exam room. He pointed and said "ball, ball, etc." over and over. Then he put his first two words together and said "my ball". He then started crying when we wouldn't give him the ball to play with. Other than that, his appointment was pretty non-eventful. Here were his stats:

Height: 33 1/2 inches- 80th percentile
Weight: 24.4 lbs- 30th percentile
Head circumference: 19 inches- 60th percentile

Here we are prior to the start of the circus:

And approximately 5 minutes after it started, Carlisle fell fast asleep and pretty much slept through the first 30 minutes:

Latest happenings

Wow how quickly things change! Carlisle will be 18 months on Thursday and he is such a toddler now and definitely not a baby. I read a quote the other day that said "the days are long, but the years are short." How true this is as I cannot believe Carlisle will be a year and a half this week. His newest hobbies include throwing balls, talking on the phone, reading books, banging on pots and pans, and chasing Raleigh. Here are his current words: mama, dada, dog, ball, no, uh oh, night night, nana, hi, bye. He still is a pretty picky eater, but we are trying to get him to try new things. It is almost impossible to get him to stand still for a picture, so most pictures taken these days are blurred or with his eyes shut.

It has been a busy January! It snowed again in Columbia. Carlisle didn't love the snow. I think part of the problem is a lack of appropriate snow clothing, so he just gets really cold.

here he is all bundled up getting ready to go out:

Here is Carlisle talking on his "phone." It is actually a toy remote, but it says Hello in three languages, and Carlisle thinks its a phone:

Christmas

We have had a very busy couple of days. Earlier in the week, Carlisle and I went to Aiken to see some friends. Carlisle had a blast seeing his friends Carson, Morenci, and Oliver. Here are Carlisle and Oliver playing:

At my parents' house, Carlisle loved to watch my parents dogs through the glass door. Here is Carlisle waiting on the dogs.

After our short visit in Aiken, we came back to Columbia. On Christmas eve, we went to church with Nana, Papa Don, Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Dan, and DJ. Both DJ and Carlisle did great in the church service. On Christmas morning, we woke up early, and it was clear Santa had visited bringing Carlisle lots of gifts, including a kitchen set and wagon.

Carlisle enjoyed playing with the oatmeal container more than the kitchen at first!

Carlisle then took a spin in his wagon:

After checking out our stockings and some presents from Santa, we were off to Sumter to see Yanni, Granddad and Uncle Josh. Santa had visited Carlisle in Sumter too.
Carlisle enjoyed looking under the tree at all of the presents:

Carlisle was not big into actually opening his presents. Luckily, Uncle Josh helped him out:

One of his favorite presents was his very own Clemson hat, in just his size!

Carlise also liked his new book bag:

After all of the excitement, Carlisle needed a quick break:

After a wonderful time in Sumter, we headed back to Columbia to celebrate Christmas with Nana, Papa Don, Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Dan, Tony and DJ. DJ and Carlisle preferred sitting in the wagon, while we opened all the presents:

We then had a wonderful dinner and it was time for Carlisle to go to bed after the big day. With all the excitement, I didn't get many pictures of our afternoon.

This morning Carlisle was very excited to play with his new toys, and especially enjoyed his new Marbleworks Castle thing:

Santa

Well, this year Carlisle didn't really like seeing Santa. In fact, he cried anytime Santa got near him. The only way we could get him and Santa in a picture together was if he couldn't see Santa...
