Madeline's One Month!

Madeline is one month (well, yesterday). She is doing great. Everyone asks how she is sleeping- well, she generally goes to bed around 8:30 and then wakes up sometime between 2:30-4. then she sleeps until 7 or 8- which is awesome. She is a sweet baby. Here are some pictures - she was not loving having her photo taken:

Happy Easter!

We have had a great Easter weekend. Carlisle has been on several egg hunts and he loves hunting for eggs! Madeline is doing great. Carlisle loves his "baby sister" which is how he refers to her. He loves to pat her head and kiss her. Here are some of pictures:

Carlisle headed to our neighborhood Easter egg hunt. It started raining about 30 seconds before the hunt was to start:

Madeline's First Week

Madeline has had a great first week and a half. She is a good eater and sleeper, which has made it nice for us. She has had 2 nights where she slept 6 hours straight! She went to the doctor this past Saturday to have her billirubin checked and she was already back to her birth weight of 6lbs 3 oz and her billirubin level was okay. We go for her 2 week check up on Monday. I swear she has grown so I am anxious to see what her weight will be. Carlisle is very sweet with her. He wakes up asking where his baby sister is, and when she cries, he makes sure we know that she is crying. He likes to pet her head and he immediately goes searching for her when he comes home from school. He also enjoys rocking her while she is in her swing. He rocks a little too hard right now, but he is getting better with it. Here are some pictures:

She loves to sit near the windows in our kitchen area and get some sun:

Due to jaundice, the doctor wanted us to get her some sunlight:

Madeline Lewis Livingston

Madeline Lewis Livingston arrived today at 4:00 a.m.  She is 6 lbs, 3 ounces, 19 inches.  She made a very quick arrival, which was good for mom! She is healthy and beautiful, and we are so thankful and blessed.  Looking forward to introducing her to Carlisle! Thanks for all the thoughts/prayers/well wishes!

Binkie Update

Well, it has been a non-event. (thank goodness!). The Binkie is gone. Once we took it, he has only mentioned "binkie" 2-3 times. Each time he says the word, we don't respond, and he just drops it. No tantrum, no tears, nothing. It is like he never had one. I can't believe it has been this easy.

Binkie-less

So, we finally made the decision that we had to take Carlisle's pacifier away ("binkie"). Our pediatrician has told us from the beginning that he shouldn't have it past 2, and we have put off doing it (he's now 2.5). Binkies are not allowed at school, so he was really just using it to sleep at night. However, over the last couple of months/weeks, Carlisle has "demanded" his binkie more and more, and we knew it was time. We had to just take it away. I had planned on a grand good-bye to the binkie, etc., but last night, we just decided that we would stop cold turkey. He asked for it, and we told him "no, big boys don't have binkies". He whined/cried but eventually got over it and went to bed without a problem. He slept almost the entire night, and woke up asking for milk, not his binkie, around 4:30 this morning. He didn't mention the binkie this morning. The true test will be when he comes home from school today- which is when he has really wanted it lately. Hopefully, it will be a non-issue. We shall see...
