One Month (and a day) Old!!!

Our little Carlisle turned 1 month yesterday. Not much new to report since the last entry. We went to the pediatrician today due to some MAJOR gas issues Carlisle has been having over the past couple of days. About 45 minutes after he eats, he has major stomach pain and screams. It breaks my heart because there isn't much we can do to ease his pain. Needless to say, after trying a variety of different things, we finally went to see the doctor today. He gave us some things to try and I really hope they work. While at the doctor, Carlisle was weighed and he is now EIGHT pounds. Big guy. :)

Here are some pictures of him from yesterday. the pictures are not good. The lighting was terrible, and Carlisle was not in a good mood when these were taken. We will do the same shots every month so we can see how he is growing.

4 Weeks (and a day) Update

Carlisle is doing great. He is growing and changing each day which is exciting. I swear he smiled at me yesterday morning, but I haven't seen him smile since (except right before he nods off to sleep which isn't considered a real smile), so maybe by next week I will be able to post some "smile" pictures. His cousins came over on Sunday and Carlisle enjoyed his activity mat for the first time. I tried to get some pictures of him and cousin DJ "playing" together, but wasn't very successful as you will see in the pictures below. Carlisle likes when I read to him, playing on the ottoman in his nursery, and his swing. He is sleeping pretty well. We discovered the Miracle Blanket (thanks Cecily), and it keeps him swaddled and helps him sleep better. Carlisle sleeps great when he is swaddled so after a sleepless night where he kept breaking out of his swaddle, I went and purchased every swaddle blanket on the market. Right now, the miracle blanket is working the best! if you need any advice on swaddling, please ask me!

Everyone says "time flies" and I finally understand. Seriously, I can't believe Carlisle is almost a month old.

Here are some pictures from the last week:

3 Weeks Old

Carlisle is doing well. He is more and more alert and active during the day and for the most part is sleeping well. We had a rough night on Saturday night/Sunday morning due to some stomach issues, but thankfully a friend recommended Gripe Water and it seemed to do the trick last night. He slept great and has been in a much better mood today! We gave Carlisle his first "real" bath on Saturday night. He loved it! We were really nervous because he didn't love his sponge baths, but he surprised us and actually seems to enjoy the bath. Carlisle loves to have his hands out and near his face. He also enjoys tummy time and loves his toy giraffes (he has two, one "soft" and one is Sophie the Giraffe). Here are some of the latest pictures.

When Carlisle does his hands like this, we call them his "business hands".

Just Because...

Here are some new pictures of Carlisle. I put him in a onesie for the first time today. Before today, I was just putting him in gowns/outfits that snapped all the way down so I didn't have to pull things over his head. I got brave this morning and tried the onesie. He liked it. I got some early morning pictures in his precious onesie (thanks Meredith).

This afternoon, Alle and Henry came over for a visit. Alle brought her fancy camera and got the below shots. I love them! Thank you Alle. I really want her camera.

2 Week Doctor Visit

Carlisle turned two weeks old yesterday and today was his 2-week check up with his pediatrician. He looked great. Here were his stats:

Weight- 6 lbs 15 oz. - 10th percentile. (this was up from last week where he weighed in at 6 lbs, 3 oz!!! ).

Length- 21 inches (50-75th percentile)

Head- 14 inches (25th percentile).

He also had to get one shot, but other than a quick, LOUD scream, he calmed right down.

All in all, it was a good visit.

Home Alone

My parents stayed with us for Carlisle's first week. It was great to have them around, and they were a huge help. They left on Tuesday and I was bit nervous when they pulled out of our driveway. However, Carlisle has been great and is sleeping well, so the week has gone smoothly. Vance's mom came to help out yesterday so I could have lunch with friends and celebrate Uncle Josh's birthday. It was great to have her here, and I know Carlisle enjoyed her visit. Carlisle continues to sleep well and is more and more active/alert during the day which is fun. Here are some pictures:

1 Week Old

Wow. What a difference a week can make. We are home from the hospital and have been getting adjusted. Nursing was a bit challenging, but I think we have figured it out. Carlisle is sleeping great and I appreciate the sleep I am able to get. Carlisle is doing great. I feel good too, which is nice. Here are some pictures from our first week.

He is getting some sun (to help his bilirubin levels to prevent jaundice). He is wearing his favorite socks- golf socks (both on hands (he likes to scratch his face) and feet)

All bundled up in his swing.

After his nightly sponge bath.

Wide awake and alert.

His first pair of black socks (thank you Dara!). His dad loves his black socks and I am sure Carlisle will appreciate them too. Will post a picture with him in them soon!

His first photo shot at the hospital for their website.

In his favorite spot- the swing. You will notice Raleigh guarding over him.

Another swing shot.
