Home from the Hospital

We are officially home. We were discharged yesterday afternoon Carlisle got a good bill of health from his pediatrician. Our first night at home went well. Carlisle is sleeping a lot and his feedings are going pretty well. He is very alert for about 10 minutes right after he feeds, which is fun. I am feeling pretty good. Trying to get as much sleep as possible! Here are some pictures (you may have seen them on facebook) that my friend Emily took while we were still at the hospital. Thank you again for all the well wishes. We are truly blessed.

Baby Carlisle Has Arrived!!!

Baby Carlisle arrived at 4:19 pm today. He weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 20 3/4 long. I am still in awe of him and what happened today. He is the sweetest little man in the world. I still can't believe he is ours.

It was a crazy day. I woke up from a dream about being in labor and realized my water had broken. I didn't feel any pain or anything (although I thought i was having some small contractions) so it didn't feel like I could possibly be in labor. However, once you suspect your water has broken, you have to go the hospital. Vance and I left for the hospital about 6:15 am and got checked in. They checked me and while my water had not completely broken, it was enough that they had to induce. I got potossin around 10 am and then started really having contractions. Had Epidural when I was 4 cm dialated and everything was great. Then the epidural didnt' seem to be working on my right side. My labor progressed pretty quickly- I went from 6 cm to 9/10 cm in an hour. Luckily, the doctor made it back to give me another epidural just in time. One hour of pushing, and Carlisle had arrived! Vance was a fantastic coach.

We finally got settled into our room around 7 pm. Baby Carlisle is under the heat warmer in the nursery because he is having trouble staying warm. We are hoping this doesn't mean he has an infection and we are waiting test results. Please pray for him, as we won't know for 48 hours (and this means we are here for 48 more hours, or until thursday). Thank you for all the calls, texts, emails. We appreciate all the love and support. Here are some more pictures:

Carlisle's Nursery

The coloring in these pictures is a bit off, but you can get the general idea.

38 Week Belly Shots

Since my last post, I swear, my hands and feet have doubled in size. No fun. At all. I got up this morning and couldn't make a fist my hands were so swollen. Other than that, feeling okay. As promised, here are some belly pictures taken on Tuesday (38 weeks, 2 days):

38 Week Check Up

Just a quick update. Had 38 week check up today. Doctor said I was 1 cm dialated, but Baby Carlisle has not yet dropped. The Doctor does not think labor will be happening in the next couple of days (His words "if I was betting on it, I'd say I will see you next week at your regular appointment." )

I am having lots of swelling in my hands, feet and face, but they are not concerned because my blood pressure looks good.

Other than that, pretty uneventful appointment.

I promise, nursery pictures and 38 week belly shot in my next post!

37 Week Check Up

Just got back from my 37 week check up. Everything looked good and normal. No signs of labor happening just yet.

We had another ultrasound today and luckily I didn't pass out. I started to feel sick again during it, so I had to lay on my side which cut the ultrasound a bit short. Baby Carlisle also kept "hiding" so no sweet face pictures this time.

From the ultrasound, it looks like baby Carlisle weighs about 6lbs 10 oz. His head is still measuring LARGE... We also learned that he has hair! His heart/brain looked good too.

All in all it was a good visit.

36 Week Check Up

Went to Doctor's today for my 36 week check-up. Nothing really new to report. I am having some swelling in my hands and feet, but my blood pressure is good so there is nothing to worry about there.

Everything else looked good.

I am feeling pretty good. Starting to get uncomfortable and it is getting harder to sleep at night, but for the most part, I can not complain.

The nursery is pretty much ready- I will post pictures of it in my next post. All we need now is Carlisle!

The nursery was well used this past weekend when Vance and I baby sat for my sweet nephew DJ. We got to test out all sorts of our nursery items- playmat, swing, crib, rocker, changing station, monitor, etc. It was fun, but very tiring! It made us realize we need to enjoy these next couple of weeks of "resting", because once Carlisle arrives, we are going to be BUSY!
